Rome suspect facing various felony and misdemeanor charges following domestic incident

ROME- A domestic incident Friday in Oneida County has resulted in various felony and misdemeanor charges against a local suspect.

Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office investigated a domestic incident at a residence in the outer district of Rome, NY.

The nature of this incident prompted assistance from the County’s Criminal Investigation Unit, though specific details describing the incident were not elaborated by authorities.

Due to a claim of firearms apparently at the residence, police conducted a search and due to an active order of protection, the suspect, identified as Jacob S. Lutz, 31, of Rome, NY was not legally allowed to possess firearms.

Authorities subsequently seized all firearms from the residence, including two handguns, which Lutz reportedly did not possess permits to have.

Lutz has been formally charged on one felony count each of aggravated family offense, criminally possessing a weapon in the second and third-degrees, along with one misdemeanor count each of criminal contempt in the second-degree, criminal mischief in the fourth-degree and endangering the welfare of a child.

At press time, police said that Lutz was processed and held at the county jail for further arraignment proceedings.
