Route 12 re-opened following Wednesday morning tractor trailer, milk tanker accident

ONEIDA COUNTY- No injuries have been reported following an accident between a milk tanker and a tractor trailer early Wednesday in Northern Oneida County.

It happened shortly before 7:00 a.m. on State Route 12, just south of Boonville, NY (near Alder Creek), according to Boonville Fire Chief Dave Pritchard Jr.

He tells us the accident blocked both lanes of traffic. A re-route was temporarily installed while the rigs were cleared.

Chief Pritchard Jr. confirmed that Route 12 has since re-opened.

The Sheriff’s Office is handling this investigation and although we still don’t have any official word from them yet, Chief Pritchard Jr. mentioned a stopped school bus played a key factor in this accident, as one of the drivers apparently didn’t notice and safely stop in time.
