ONEIDA COUNTY- Sunday’s brush fire in Northern Oneida County rekindled only hours later, authorities say.
It was shortly after 11:30 a.m. Monday when Forestport Fire Department was called out to the O’Brien Road, near the Campground and Trestle Road areas.
The original brush fire from the day before had rekindled, according to reports from Oneida County Emergency Dispatch. Forestport Fire Department said this time, the fire was moving in the opposite direction and was much farther back.
Barneveld, Boonville, Otter Lake, Remsen and Woodgate Fire Departments all responded to assist.
It’s reported that New York State Forest Rangers were the ones to first notice the rekindle.
Firefighters worked the scene for nearly 7-hours.
