Shed Damaged in Town of Watson Fire

TOWN OF WATSON-A Connex box, used as a shed and tanning room and located on a property on Erie Canal Road in the Town of Watson received minor damage and extreme smoke and water damage in a Saturday morning blaze. Lowville firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 6646 Erie Canal Road in the Town of Watson. The occupants of the property reported a fire in a Connex box they used as a shed. When firefighters entered the structure, they found a small fire that was in the insulation behind the walls. The fire was brought under control within 10 minutes and firefighters remained at the location for about an hour to make sure there were no hot spots in the building. The New Bremen Fire Department was responded with manpower and tankers.  Upon investigation, it was determined that the fire was caused by an improperly disposed of cigarette.  The building was not insured.
