Shed Destroyed in Town of Watson Fire

Published on July 17, 2022

TOWN OF WATSON-A shed at a Town of Watson residence was destroyed by fire Sunday afternoon. The Lewis County Fire Coordinator’s office reported that the Lowville Fire Department was dispatched to a shed fire at a residence on Crestview Drive at 3:50PM. Upon arrival, firefighters found the shed to be fully engulfed and there were other exposures at risk. The exposures were an above ground pool, a trampoline, an unused chicken coup, and there is a large, dry, wooded area nearby. Firefighters were able to knock down most of the fire within 5 minutes and the fire was contained to the shed, although minor damage was observed on the chicken coup. Firefighters were fortunate because there was plenty of water available from the hydrant on Crestview Drive. The shed and its contents were a total loss. The contents of the shed included a riding lawn mower, a snow blower, and a push mower. The riding mower was used immediately before the fire and it is thought to be the source of the fire. The home, owned by Eliza Rennie, is unsured but it is not sure if the shed and its contents were insured.
