Sheriff Maciol during annual Snowmobile Safety Press Conference: Ride safe and respect landowners property

Oneida County Snowmobile Safety Press Conference 2022

CAMDEN- You know that snowmobiling season has started or is very close when our local law enforcement agencies start hosting safety press conferences.

For Oneida County, the Sheriff’s Office held their annual safety gathering Tuesday, where New York State Forest Rangers, neighboring law enforcement agencies and officials joined-in with their message to snowmobilers: ride safe and responsibly.

As usual, law enforcement agencies will be on the lookout all season long for snowmobilers riding while intoxicated, along with speeders, sleds with illegal exhaust modifications and registration violations.

Furthermore, Sheriff Maciol stressed that the trail system, which includes nearly 650-miles in the county, depends solely on landowners. Those who ride off the trails and on private property only jeopardize the sport for everyone else, the Sheriff says.
