OCSO 2

ONEIDA COUNTY- Three people were injured in a one car motor vehicle accident on Quaker Hill Road in the Town of Western.

It happened on Friday evening sometime shortly before 8:30 p.m. Road Patrol Deputies were dispatched to a one car personal injury motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Brandon Scalzo, 23, of Annsville, NY was driving a 2011 Dodge Pickup Truck in a southerly direction.

Due to what police described as unsafe speeds, Scalzo failed to keep right and his vehicle crossed over the Northbound lane before exiting the shoulder and colliding with a guiderail before traveling down an earth embankment and coming to rest after striking a tree.

Scalzo and his two passengers; Katie Dawes, 23, of Annsville, NY and Betty Lynman, 29, of Oriskany, NY were both transported to the Wynn Hospital by Amcare Ambulance for non-life threatening injuries.

Scalzo was issued traffic citations returnable to the Western Town Court at a later date.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the New York State Police, Western Fire Department, and AmCare Ambulance.
