LOWVILLE- Authorities in Lewis County have announced the latest welfare fraud arrests following complaints filed to the Department of Social Services.
Amanda L. Marolf, 36, of Glenfield, NY and Vicki L. Hutchins, 33, of Glenfield, NY were both arrested on Friday by the Sheriff’s Office for offering a false instrument for filing in the first-degree.
Furthermore, police charged Marolf with one count each of welfare fraud in the fourth-degree and grand larceny in the fourth-degree (property value exceeding $1,000), while Hutchins was charged with one count each of welfare fraud in the third-degree and grand larceny in the third-degree (property value exceeding $3,000).
According to investigators, the charges filed against Marolf stem from last spring, while the charges against Hutchins stem from December, 2022.
Both cases are correlated to the town of Lowville, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Marolf was processed and released with an appearance ticket, which is returnable to Lowville Town Court at a later date.
Meanwhile, Hutchins was arraigned in Lewis County Court and released on her own recognizance.
