Sheriff’s Office investigating fatal fire near Taberg, NY, authorities say

ONEIDA COUNTY- A fire Thursday afternoon in Oneida County has claimed one life, emergency authorities have confirmed.

It happened shortly after 2:00 p.m. at 3445 Mill Road, town of Annsville, near Taberg, NY. Initial reports suggest that a neighbor saw smoke coming from the single story home.

The structure was fully involved by the time firefighters arrived.

Once the flames were brought under control, the body of a deceased person was discovered, according to Sheriff’s Office investigators.

Emergency officials are still working to determine a cause for the fire.

As of this report, the victim’s identity has not yet been revealed, but the Sherriff’s Office plans to update once a positive identification is made.

Taberg was the primary fire department on scene, with mutual aid provided from McConnellsville, North Bay and Vienna.

Members of the New York State Police, New York State Fire Office and AmCare Ambulance also assisted.
