
ONEIDA COUNTY- A skunk is confirmed to have tested positive recently for rabies in the local area, according to authorities.
Officials via the Oneida Country Health Department say the critter in question is a skunk in the Remsen, NY area.
Specific addresses or roads were not mentioned by authorities.
Samples were sent out to the State’s Wadsworth Center on Tuesday, with positive results showing up Wednesday.
As of this report, Health Department officials clarified that there was no human exposure to the rabid animal.
If you witness a wild animal behaving strangely, such as getting unusually close, foaming at the mouth and etc., officials say to stay away and contact your local health department to file a report.
