Snowmobile accident involving railroad crossing sign results in fatality in Western Adirondacks

WEBB- Authorities are investigating a fatal snowmobile accident, which occurred over the weekend in the Western Adirondacks.

It happened shortly before 8:00 p.m. Saturday when emergency responders were called out to the Big Moose Road, town of Webb.

9-1-1 dispatch received calls regarding a personal injury snowmobile accident near the railroad tracks.

Investigation via the Town of Webb Police Department suggests that Michael Volino (no age provided), of Millbrook, NY was operating his 2023 Ski-Doo machine on Big Moose Road and lost control.

Police say Volino collided with a railroad crossing sign. He was pronounced deceased on-scene.

According to Chief of Police Ron Johnston, the investigation remains ongoing.

Members of Inlet Police, New York State Police, Big Moose Fire Department and Old Forge Ambulance all assisted.
