Snowmobiler in fatal North Country accident struck a tree, investigators say

WORTH- Authorities have released an update regarding a fatal snowmobile accident that occurred over the weekend in Jefferson County.

It was shortly before 10:00 p.m. Saturday when emergency responders were called out to the Horace Forward Truck Trail in the town of Worth.

According to State Police Investigators, Robert M. Barnett, 51, from Watertown, NY, was traveling east on a 2021 Polaris snowmobile.

It’ reported that Barnett exited the north shoulder of the trail and ultimately struck a tree. Barnett was pronounced deceased at the scene.
