
ONEIDA COUNTY- A barn collapse early Sunday morning resulted in the loss of some cattle.
It happened shortly after 6:30 a.m. on the McCormick Road, town of Western. Initial reports from 9-1-1 dispatch suggested that there were some cows trapped.
Western Fire Department was the primary agency on scene. They did not provide an exact address.
Their Fire Chief said emergency responders immediately began rescue efforts.
Fortunately, some cattle were found alive in the debris and ultimately were able to eventually walk out on their own, or were rescued successfully.
On the other hand, emergency officials confirmed that some cattle did not survive the collapse.
An exact number of head-cattle was not available at press time, but emergency responders did mention that the barn was appx. 100’ by 300’.
