Federal and state figures are calling out certain New York Republicans to resign in the wake of what has been described as a ‘disturbing’ chat thread that has been leaked to the press.

According to some of the latest publications from Politico and others, several Republican leaders and figures from around the country are taking serious heat over remarks about gas chambers, slavery, rape and loving Hitler.

Sources suggest these text threads were exchanged over an app known as ‘Telegram.’ Politico managed to obtain these threads, nearly 3,000 pages worth, from January through mid-August.

Some of the New York figures involved in this latest scandal include Peter Giunta, who up until this development blossomed out, was the Chief of Staff for Assemblyman Mike Reilly, of Staten Island.

Joe Maligno, who formerly worked within New York’s Unified Court System; Annie Kaykaty, New York’s Young Republican national committee member and Bobby Walker, who was the vice chair of New York Young Republicans during the alleged text exchanges, are among the other New York figures involved.

North Country Public Radio reported that Giunta and Walker both apologized, but went on to suggest how the texts may have been doctored and were taken out of context.

Since word has gotten out, key Republican figures in New York, including North Country Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY-21), are condemning those in the chat threads and have called for all of them to resign.
