BOONVILLE- An individual was arrested over the weekend after complaints of squatting at a village establishment.
First of all, you may ponder on the term “squatting.” According to authorities, squatting is used as a word to define an individual who unlawfully occupies an area of unused land, property or structure.
In this case, the Boonville Police, Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police were all called to the Hulbert House Saturday morning after an employee complained of a possible squatter.
Officials told us an arrest was made, but we do not have a suspect identity as of this report – pending additional charges and updates from the Sheriff’s Office.
We were told by authorities that the suspect in question was wanted on a warrant from Rome City Police. Furthermore, we were told the suspect fled from police last Thursday after being caught occupying a vacant building on Main Street.
We are waiting on further updates to surface. If and when anything else develops, we will share another report.
