LEWIS COUNTY- North Country folks have an opportunity to start the new-year off with a guided DEC hike in Lewis County.
On New Year’s Day at 1:00 p.m., residents are invited to meet at the Carpenter Road Trails (Main Carpenter Road Ski Parking Area; Lesser Wilderness State Forest).
"Getting outdoors and connecting with nature is the perfect way to start the New Year," said Randall Young, DEC Region 6 Director. "First Day Hikes across the state and in the region bring together outdoor enthusiasts of all abilities, creating opportunities to create lasting memories in the process."
Participants should plan to use snowshoes or cross-country skis for this almost three and half mile trail event.
If there is no snow, the group will hike the trails. This will be a moderate level hike.
To RSVP or for more information, please contact Lowville’s DEC sub-office at 315-376-3521.
