NEW BREMEN- A North Country teenager is faced with a felony offense for possessing a weapon on school grounds in Lewis County, authorities say.
The 17-year-old, who is from Castorland, NY, was not identified by the New York State Police. The teen is officially charged with one felony count of criminally possessing a weapon on school grounds.
Troopers said the arrest stems from complaints September 29 in the town of New Bremen.
In an update received Wednesday, Beaver River Central School Superintendent Todd Green confirmed the incident occurred at the district, but made very clear that there was "no ill will." "Administrators during an investigation received a tip that a trap shooting gun was located inside of a locked vehicle, which belonged to the student in question," Mr. Green told us.
At press time, police said the suspect was released on their own recognizance.
