State Police leading Rome area homicide investigation from spring

ONEIDA COUNTY- New York State Police are currently leading an active homicide investigation following an early morning incident on May 10, 2025, in the outer district of Rome, NY.

It happened around 4:30 a.m., as Troopers were dispatched to a residence on Elmer Hill Road for a report of a possible assault.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, identified as Mark A. Capparelli, age 56, of Rome, NY, was transported to Wynn Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation is being led by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
