STATE POLICE: Newport resident charged in Herkimer County menacing case

NORWAY- A resident from the Kuyahoora Valley area is faced with felony and misdemeanor charges in the wake of an alleged menacing incident in Herkimer County, authorities say.

Charles E. Guyer, 40, of Newport, NY was arrested early Tuesday by the New York Police (Herkimer). Guyer is formally charged with one felony count of criminally possessing a weapon in the third-degree (w/a previous conviction), along with a misdemeanor of menacing in the second-degree (weapon).

According to Troopers, these charges stem from menacing complaints, which were filed Monday evening in the town of Norway.

At press time, Guyer’s arrest status was listed as held – no bail.

There were no further details provided.
