JEFFERSON & LEWIS COUNTIES- Law enforcement officials have provided an update in regards to a North Country resident faced with charges related to a road rage incident.

As reported on Monday, Henry Fleming, 50, of Watertown, NY was arrested by the New York State Police for DWI and several other vehicle and traffic violations.

According to the latest details provided by investigators, this whole incident began when Troopers were dispatched on Saturday afternoon to State Route 3, town of Champion, Jefferson County, for complaints of a hit-and-run crash.

Rodney Clement, 66, of Carthage, NY reported that a blue colored sedan swerved directly in-front of his pick-up before slamming on the brakes, causing a rear-end collision.

Fleming, the alleged driver of the sedan, reportedly exited his vehicle, according to Clement’s testimony, before a physical altercation ensued.

Fleming then allegedly fled the scene, but Troopers managed to identify his Dodge Avenger and catch him driving on State Route 3 a short while later.

Police say that Fleming did not pull-over when Troopers attempted a traffic stop, resulting in a pursuit that went into Lewis County, ending after Fleming pulled into a driveway in the Harrisville, NY area, where he was taken into custody without further incident.

During the interview process, State Police said that Fleming appeared intoxicated.

He was issued with appearance tickets, though the investigation remains ongoing, police said at press time.
