LEE- A U-Haul driver was issued numerous traffic tickets for causing an accident Monday afternoon in Oneida County, which ended up involving four different vehicles.

It happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Turin Road, town of Lee, near Pleasant Drive.

According to State Police investigation as of this report, Trever M. Martin, 37, of Lee Center, NY was driving a GMC U-Haul truck southbound and smashed into the back of a 2012 Ford.

Troopers say Martin failed to see the Ford, which was stopped in-front of him. The Ford was operated by Nicholas K. Hardy, 30, of Boonville, NY.

Impact from the initial crash resulted in the U-Haul truck striking two more vehicles, including a 2018 Chevy, reportedly driven by Matthew H. Lane, 38, of Rome, NY and a 2023 Mitsubishi, reportedly driven by Richard C. Carrier, 60, of Rome, NY.

Fortunately, authorities said there were no major injuries that resulted from this accident, but with that said, Hardy and Lane were taken to area hospitals for evaluation of minor injuries.

Troopers said Carrier was not injured in the crash.

As for Martin, police say he was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries.

Subsequent to the crash investigation, State Police issued Martin with traffic tickets for unlicensed operator, failing to keep right, moving from a lane unsafely and following too closely.
