STATE POLICE UPDATE: Victim identified in fatal Herkimer County UTV v. car collision

RUSSIA- An update has been released concerning a collision between a UTV and a car earlier this month, which resulted in a fatality.

It happened shortly before 11:00 p.m. on the night of May 10 in the town of Russia, Herkimer County.

According to an updated report from State Police Investigators, Ian Amendolare, 20, of Newport, NY was heading east in a 2021 Polaris Razor UTV and crossed over into the westbound lane – striking an oncoming 2018 Subaru, which was driven by Alfonse Nitti, 21, of Utica, NY.

Troopers said that Amendolare was pronounced deceased at the scene, while Nitti was transported to Wynn Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing.
