WASHINGTON, D.C. – A pair of bills introduced via North Country Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY-21) have advanced through the Committee on Ways and Means, setting up further consideration on the House floor.

These bills, the ‘University Accountability Act’ and 'Protecting American Students Act,’ are designed to combat antisemitism on college campuses across the country, according to Stefanik.

“I am proud to see the University Accountability Act and the Protecting American Students Act advance through committee as I continue my efforts to combat antisemitism on college campuses across the country," Stefanik said.

"These universities were warned that their failure to adequately stand up for our Jewish students and community on campus would lead to consequences and today House Republicans are another step closer to delivering on that promise.”

The University Accountability Act will impose penalties on education institutions who fail to protect the civil rights of their students after antisemitic incidents on college campuses increased by 700% following the Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023.

The Protecting American Students Act will ensure that only American students are counted towards endowment tax calculations.
