If you’re a student attending a SUNY or CUNY public university, you will no longer be required to get a COVID-19 shot after this spring semester.
This development stems from an announcement this week from SUNY Chancellor John King Jr. “The safety of SUNY’s students is our first and foremost priority, and while COVID is no longer an emergency, we will not lose sight of the impact it continues to have on us,” King said.
“Across SUNY we will continue to monitor cases and make adjustments as needed, but even more importantly, we will look to increase the overall health and wellness support we provide our students.”
There are 64 public campuses associated with SUNY or CUNY statewide.
Although the mandate is being scrapped, officials still strongly encourage students to consider vaccinations.
The requirement drop coincides with the official end of the national public health emergency recently by President Biden’s administration.
