LOWVILLE- A resident from the Eastern region of New York State reportedly registered a BAC. level over twice the legal limit following a traffic stop this week in Lewis County.

It was some time shortly before 9:00 p.m. Wednesday when the Sheriff’s Office stopped a 2013 Subaru Forester on State Route 26 in the town of Lowville.

Deputies allege the driver, identified as Stephen M. Baldwin, 54, of Fort Ann, NY had failed to use the proper designated lane while traveling north.

While interviewing Baldwin, Deputies say he appeared intoxicated and subsequently failed field sobriety tests, which were administered on-scene.

During processing at the Public Safety Building, police say that Baldwin registered a .21% BAC.

He was charged with aggravated DWI and other unspecified traffic infractions before being released on appearance tickets, which are returnable to Lowville Town Court at a later date.
