Suspect who stole cart-load of merchandise from local Tractor Supply store allegedly knocked intervening employee to the ground

ROME- Police have arrested a suspect in the wake of a larceny from a retail store, where an employee received a minor injury during the incident.

It was some time around 5:00 p.m. last Thursday when city police were called out to Tractor Supply on Erie Boulevard.

Officers learned that a subject had loaded up a shopping cart full of merchandise and started to leave, without paying.

An employee saw what was going on and went to confront the perpetrator, but was knocked down and suffered a minor injury.

Police managed to identify the suspect as Jahzire E. Brown, 24, of Utica, NY. In an unrelated case, Brown was taken into Utica City Police Custody the following day.

While in the county jail, Brown was charged by Rome Police with felony robbery in the third-degree.

Brown was arraigned and there were no further details provided.
