TOWN OF WHITESTOWN-A 44 year Taberg man is facing numerous charges after being arrested following investigations into three separate incidents in Oneida County. Shawn E. Smith was arrested on Friday in the Town of Whitestown and charged in the incidents listed below: In the first incident which reportedly occurred in August of 2025 in the City of Rome, New York State Police from the Rome Barracks charged Smith with one count of Reckless Driving and two counts of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd degree, Class U misdemeanors. He was also charged with one count of Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree a Class A misdemeanor. In the second incident which reportedly occurred in August of this year in the City of Rome, Troopers from the Rome Barracks charged Smith with one count each of Reckless Driving and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree, both Class U misdemeanors. Smith was also charged with Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree, a Class A misdemeanor. In the third Incident which also occurred in August of this year in the Town of Marcy, State Police from the Marcy Barracks charged Smith with one count of Tampering with Physical Evidence-Conceal or Destroy, a Class E felony and one count of Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree-Preventing Official Function, a Class A misdemeanor. Smith was transported to Oneida County Central Arraignment. Investigations remain pending.
