WESTERN- An abandoned call to 9-1-1 dispatchers has led to the arrest and charges filed against a local man in the wake of an altercation this week, authorities say.

Paul Calderon, 30, from the town of Western, NY is officially charged by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office with one misdemeanor count of criminal mischief in the fourth-degree and one violation of harassment.

According to Deputies, 9-1-1 dispatchers received a call from a residence on the Camroden Road at around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, but the call was reportedly abandoned.

Police were sent to the address to investigate, where they ultimately determined a physical altercation had occurred. Calderon is accused of engaging a physical tussle with a victim.

A family member on scene, who reportedly witnessed what was going on, tried calling police for help, but Calderon reportedly unplugged the phone’s main power source.

He was processed and held at the county jail, pending arraignment in CAP Court.

No further details were released.
