OLD FORGE- A woman from Oswego County is accused of impaired driving with two children in the vehicle, following reports of a traffic stop last week in the Western Adirondacks.
Mindy S. Billman, 45, of Fulton, NY was arrested by the Town of Webb Police Department on the night of Tuesday, July 16. Billman is formally charged with two felony counts each of aggravated DWI (Leandra’s Law), along with additional misdemeanor counts of DWAI (drugs), endangering the welfare of a child and criminally possessing a controlled substance in the seventh-degree.
According to police officials, patrols stopped Billman along State Route 28 in Old Forge, NY after she was reportedly observed swerving into the on-coming lane and nearly striking parked vehicles along the roadway.
Investigation suggests that Billman was allegedly impaired by the use of at-least one substance, while also possessing a controlled substance, identified by authorities as Alprazolam.
Police clarified that Billman possessed the substance without a proper prescription.
At the time of the traffic stop, police said that there were two children, ages 9 and 10, riding as back-seat passengers.
Town of Webb Police received assistance via Oswego County Child Protective Services.
Billman was issued with appearance tickets, which are returnable to Webb Town Court at a later date.
