LOWVILLE- No major injuries have been reported in the wake of a car v. worker accident Tuesday morning in the village, authorities say.

It happened around 9:45 a.m. while village DPW crews were working on Stowe Street.

According to investigation via the Lowville Police Department, a vehicle entered the work zone and struck a worker, knocking them to the ground.

Members of the work crew attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver kept going.

Workers managed to capture a license plate number, which helped police locate the alleged driver, identified as Janise Markowski, 74, of Lowville, NY.

She was issued a traffic ticket for leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, which is returnable to Lowville Town Court at a later date.

For the DPW worker, they reportedly complained of lower extremity pain, but remained on the job for the day, authorities said.

There were no further details provided at press time.
