Troopers charge North Country resident with criminally possessing a weapon in Jefferson County

CHAMPION- A North Country resident is faced with charges that stem from a reported domestic dispute this week in Jefferson County, authorities say.

William L. Spellan, 34, of Carthage, NY was arrested on Monday morning by the New York State Police (Carthage). Spellan is formally charged with criminally possessing a weapon in the fourth-degree (misdemeanor).

According to Troopers, the arrest stems from a domestic dispute complaint, which was filed that same morning in the town of Champion.

At press time, police said that Spellan was released.
