Barneveld FD Accident October 2026

BARNEVELD- A few new details have surfaced concerning Sunday’s wreck, where authorities now say the driver who crashed into a parked vehicle was allegedly drunk.

As previously reported, State Police said they arrested William J. Wehrenberg, 61, of Poland, NY for DWI.

The arrest was made in the wake of a crash shortly before 5:00 a.m. Sunday.

Investigators say Wehrenberg was coming eastbound on Boon Street when he drove his Nissan vehicle off from the south shoulder before skipping the sidewalk and striking a Jeep in a parking lot next to Mappa Avenue.

Due to the force of impact, authorities said the Jeep was shoved into the side of a building.

Both vehicles were damaged significantly, though emergency responders did not report any injuries.

Troopers reported that Wehrenberg registered a .16% BAC during processing, which is twice the legal limit in New York.

In addition to DWI, Troopers cited Wehrenberg on two other vehicle and traffic law violations.

Wehrenberg is due back to answer the charges in Trenton Town Court at a later date.
