Two local television news stations received threatening letters from North Country man, who is going to prison, claiming to be Chinese Zodiac Killer’

ALBANY, NY- He had killed people, ate their flesh and was going to kill more.

That’s what Jesse Bartlett wrote in his numerous and disturbing letters mailed all over the northeast, sending chills down the spines of many.

He is the man from LaFargeville, NY who is now going to spend 16-months behind bars for his threatening actions. According to numerous reports, Bartlett claimed in his letters that he was the ‘Chinese Zodiac Killer.’

His messages were mailed all over the northeast from April, 2021 to May, 2022, when he was arrested and taken into custody.

Authorities say his letters were mailed to several government offices, places of worship, private businesses and media outlets, including our two local television stations – WKTV and WWNY.

We did not receive any messages from Bartlett.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Barnett says that Bartlett, although very specific in his messages, never once tried to carry out any actions threatened or mentioned in his letters.

Bartlett was sentenced Wednesday in Albany Federal Court. He will spend 16-months behind bars and once released, Bartlett will be under probation supervision for three-years.
