Two pets lost in North Country blaze; Red Cross assisting adults and children

NATURAL BRIDGE- A fire Thursday morning in the North Country took the lives of two pets and authorities are now investigating.

Natural Bridge Fire Department was called out to a trailer home fire on the Beartown Road sometime shortly before 3:00 a.m.

Various surrounding fire departments from Jefferson and Lewis Counties provided mutual aid.

Despite a great response time and effort by local fire fighters, officials deemed the home to be a total loss, as the rear of the structure was completely destroyed and there was heavy smoke and water damage throughout.

Firefighters found the back of the trailer completely engulfed and managed to douse it within 15-minutes.

Seven people, including four adults and three children, all managed to escape the blaze and the Red Cross has stepped up to assist.

Unfortunately, fire officials confirmed a dog and a cat were lost in the flames.

No other injuries were reported.

A cause remains under investigation.
