BOONVILLE- Emergency officials say Thursday morning’s fire call just north of the village was electrical in nature.
Boonville Fire Department was called out sometime shortly after 7:30 a.m. to reports of a fire in the basement of 4116 State Route 12-D.
Boonville Fire Department officials said the homeowner was present and managed to get a head start with a fire extinguisher before first responders arrived.
Once firefighters were on scene, they managed to take quick control of the situation.
It turns out the fire sparked behind some appliances in the basement.
Emergency responders reported mostly smoke damage, along with some water and fire damage.
The homeowner was evaluated for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.
At first, Remsen Fire Department was on standby.
Members from Boonville Ambulance and Municipal all assisted.
