Two remain unaccounted for amid Rome apartment complex fire investigation, according to emergency officials

ROME- A major fire is under investigation at an area apartment complex, where authorities say one person remains in critical condition and two more have yet to be accounted for as of Tuesday morning.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office said the fire sparked sometime around 4:30 a.m. at Countryside Apartments, located at 7108 Rome Oriskany Road.

Deputies have since been working alongside the State Police and other emergency responders in locating victims.

So far, there is at-least one female victim who was found with severe burns. She was taken to Wynn Hospital and her condition was critical as of this report.

Meanwhile, police say they are still trying to locate two more people, who have yet to be accounted for as of Tuesday morning.

Rome City Fire Department received assistance from numerous surrounding departments in battling this blaze.

AmCare Ambulance was called to the scene as well. For now, the Red Cross is currently assisting those who escaped.
