JEFFERSON COUNTY- A North Country truck driver was rescued from a tractor trailer roll-over this week in Jefferson County, authorities say.
It happened shortly after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the town of Rutland.
Investigation via the New York State Police suggests that James A. Frizzell, 70, from Carthage, NY was towing a tandem axle tanker trailer containing liquid manure southbound on Odell Road.
Police say he went off the roadway, overturned and went down an embankment after failing to maintain his lane. Frizzell's rig ended up striking a tree and utility pole.
He was trapped inside the wreckage, but emergency responders managed to free him. He was airlifted by LifeNet to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
Frizzell's injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
State Police were assisted at the scene by NYS DEC, Rutland Fire Department, Rodman Fire Department, Town of Watertown Fire Department, Guilfoyle Ambulance, National Grid, and Groff’s Towing.
