BOONVILLE- New developments have surfaced concerning Wednesday’s accident in the village.

As previously reported, emergency responders rushed to the Post Street area (between Erwin and West Streets) shortly after 12:30 noon because a lawn tractor, with a child aboard, had ended up in Mill Creek.

Police Chief Dave Olney says the child was with a family relative when the incident occurred.

While still under supervision of the nearby family relative, the child managed to accidently engage the tractor, while still on it, before ending up in Mill Creek. Authorities said both the child and family relative were near the edge of the creek when the lawn tractor went in.

The child was briefly pinned under the machine in the icy waters, but the relative acted immediately to free the child.

The child was taken away by Boonville Ambulance with injuries that included bruised legs, emergency responders said.

With that said, we have received word from numerous sources, who are close to the family involved, claiming that the child is expected to be fine.

The Fire Department also responded.
