HERKIMER COUNTY- There was no injuries reported after a car collided with an Amish horse and buggy Wednesday evening in the town of Newport.

It happened shortly after 5:00 p.m. on State Route 28, according to emergency officials. Among those responding were the New York State Police.

Investigators have determined that Gloria J. Snyder, 74, of Newport was heading north in a 2015 Nisan and collided with the rear end of an Amish buggy, which was also heading north.

The buggy rig ultimately came to rest up by the guardrail, State Police said. At press time, the State Police ended up citing Snyder for following too closely.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported and the horse survived as well, emergency responders said.
