UPDATE: Fatal crash victim Wednesday in Westernville identified

WESTERNVILLE- The victim in Wednesday’s fatal crash in Westernville has been identified by emergency personnel.

In an update to this story from Sheriff’s Office investigators, authorities say the driver of the third vehicle involved with the accident, a 2015 Subaru, was driven by Deborah A. Gilbert, 68, of Boonville NY.

She was pronounced deceased after being struck head-on by a southbound Ford F-250 pick-up truck, driven by James R. Shaughnessy, 69 of Canastota, NY.

As previously reported, Shaughnessy clipped the mirror of a northbound Ford F-250 truck, driven by Anthony J. Donatelli, 50 of Forestport, NY.

Investigators say the impact caused Shaughnessy’s truck to veer into the northbound lane, thus resulting in the head-on collision with Gilbert.

Meanwhile, Shaughnessy was flown to SUNY Upstate Medical Center after being ejected from his truck. Authorities described injuries to be non-life threatening.

Donatelli was not injured during the crash and only sustained property damage to his vehicle, investigators said.
