LYONS FALLS- A fatality has been confirmed in Wednesday’s accident involving a motor vehicle and a motorcycle in Southern Lewis County.

As previously reported, it happened shortly before 4:30 p.m. on State Route 12, near Stewart’s Shops in Lyons Falls, NY.

An investigation from the Sheriff’s Office suggests that Jennifer M. Lucas, 37, of Turin, NY was heading south in a 2018 Chevy Traverse. It’s reported that Lucas started making a left-turn into Stewart’s parking lot, but failed to yield the right-of-way to an oncoming motorcycle, operated by Dillen A. Deveines, 39, of Glenfield, NY.

A collision occurred and despite life-saving efforts on-scene by first responders, Deveines was tragically pronounced deceased.

As of press time, Sheriff’s Deputies said the investigation remains ongoing.

The New York State Police and their Collision Reconstruction Unit assisted, along with members from Lyons Falls and Port Leyden Fire Departments; Lyons Falls and Constableville Ambulance; Lewis County Search & Rescue; Lifenet Helicopter and Unlimited Collision.
