HERKIMER & ONEIDA COUNTIES- Authorities have provided a few more details regarding the search for a missing child in the Otter Lake, NY area, who was found safe.
As reported Tuesday, numerous agencies and volunteers worked together in finding a child, who was reported missing near the area of Lake View Road and Kowalik’s Hotel.
DEC Forest Rangers headed the investigation, with a total of 10 Rangers joining the effort. State Police utilized a drone and a K9.
According to the DEC, a passerby called 9-1-1 after spotting a child at a camp across from Lake View Road.
A volunteer, who is a family friend, overheard the call and soon reached the three-year-old boy, bringing him back to his parents.
In addition to the numerous volunteers who aided with the search, members from Herkimer County Sheriff's, Inlet Police, Old Forge Fire, Otter Lake Fire, Webb Police, Woodgate Fire, the State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, and DEC's Division of Law Enforcement all assisted.
