
ONEIDA COUNTY- A threat at Remsen Central School has been considered "unfounded," according to Sheriff's investigators.
Police received word of a threat at the district on Thursday. The County Sheriff's Office Threat Assessment team assisted school officials and based on their findings, the threat was not credible.
"Any school based incident is taken seriously and jointly investigated by the School District and Law Enforcement," the Sheriff's Office said.
"The Safety of the schools, students and staff is of upmost importance and the Sheriff's Office remains committed to keeping the community safe."
Statement from Remsen CSD Superintendent, Timothy Jenny:
“Yesterday our high school received a report of a student situation that was investigated immediately and addressed accordingly with the assistance of the Oneida County Sheriff's Department. The threat was deemed not credible. The safety and wellbeing of our students is priority one. As always, we encourage students to share any concerns that they have and we appreciate those that communicated directly with the school.”
The Sheriff's Office did not release any details regarding the nature of the threat.
