ONEIDA COUNTY- The woman who was clipped by an Amtrak train this month in the city of Rome, NY has been formally charged by police.
As previously reported, the Sheriff's Office was among those who responded to a pedestrian v. train incident on March 10, which occurred on CSX Rail Road between the Rome train station on Martin Street and the Route 49 overpass from East Dominick Street.
Following an investigation, deputies have identified the person involved as Tanya Larsen, age 49, of Rome, NY.
Larsen is charged with Criminal Trespass in the 3rd degree. Original investigation suggested that she was allegedly walking the train tracks when a passing Amtrak passenger train hooked onto her backpack and briefly dragged her before it broke free.
Larsen was taken to Wynn Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
As a reminder to the public, the Sheriff's Office warns that it is a criminal offense to be on rail road property and/or the right of way.
