LOWVILLE- Could LCHS see a cut in their Medicaid funding?
According to the Chief Financial Officer, Jeff Hellinger, the Health System is not anticipating much funding for Medicaid over the next three-years.
These developments come from WWNY-TV. CFO Hellinger told reporters how their current Medicaid payments are failing to cover the cost of providing services.
Reports suggest that there are currently 7,000 Lewis County residents who receive Medicaid services.
The County Manager, Timothy Hunt, added how Medicaid payments to the county can vary from year-to-year, going on to clarify how some years can result in very healthy sums, while others yield little to none.
He says it’s all based on a very complex state auditing process, which is trailing behind a number of years and apparently uses data from past years to come up with the latest payments to the county.
Mr. Hunt emphasized that despite a wave of doubt over Medicaid and potential funding pathways, county government will work to come up with the best estimate possible regarding how much money should be allotted over the next few years and how to budget it efficiently.
We have reached out to LCHS for more details to be aired soon.
