BOONVILLE- The Village has declared a snow emergency until 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning, February 22.
"Please do not park on the street at any time of day," a statement from the village offices reads.
"The crews are working extremely hard to clear the snow and it makes it much harder when they have to work around parked cars."
To clarify, village officials said the order DOES NOT include state roads or streets with designated on-street parking for businesses.
The Police Department will be assisting the DPW with the removal of any vehicles that are parked on the street or blocking sidewalks.
The deceleration was ordered late Monday afternoon amidst a lake effect snowstorm.
We will soon be sharing more precise numbers, but this storm will officially tip Boonville over the 200-inch mark for the season, the first time since the winter of 2008 - 2009, when the now late George Capron measured over 213-inches of snow accumulation.
While Boonville declared their snow emergency, the Lewis County Sheriff's Office announced the closure of State Route 26 between West Leyden and Constableville, NY, but as of 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, the Sheriff's Office told us that the roadway has since re-opened.
Meanwhile, the Town of Ava Highway Department announced Monday evening that the would be pulling their snowplows off the roadway. Officials said the plows were expected to go back out sometime around 2:00 a.m.
