LEWIS COUNTY- Roof and water damage have been reported in the wake of a chimney fire over the weekend in Copenhagen, NY.
It happened Sunday afternoon at an apartment building on Maple Avenue, according to the latest from WWNY-TV. Firefighters told reporters on scene that the fire may have sparked due to overheating.
It’s reported that all tenants inside managed to escape unharmed. Firefighters managed to attack and douse the flames quickly.
Officials say the chimney will need replacement. Roof and water damage was reported. During the replacement process, officials say tenants will be able to remain.
This is the first time a fire has sparked within Copenhagen’s village limits since Rutland took over its coverage.
