What’s with the air quality readings throughout Central and Northern New York? Officials cite iPhone IOS glitch

Have you noticed the air quality readings around Central and Northern New York were dramatically high over the weekend?

Several reports via social media started surfacing on late Friday afternoon, where residents were raising questions with some pretty concerning air quality readings.

Apparently, there has been some speculation that the wildfires out in California were making an impact similar to the smoke that plagued the local area from Canadian wildfires during the summer of 2023.

However, reports from WKTV and their Meteorologist Team suggest that idea is generally false because smoke from the Los Angeles area wildfires has been blowing south, or out to sea, due to northeast winds.

With that said, Meteorologist Bill Kardas did report via social media on Sunday that there was an actual uptick with air quality readings, but it was minor and a cold front, which is forecasted to move through today, is expected to sweep any residual issues from the area.

So what’s the issue?

Well, further reports have surfaced and the blame is pointed to iPhone users and an IOS glitch.

Other sensors from different devices around Central and Northern New York have been displaying healthy and normal levels, according to numerous sources.
