FLOYD- Sheriff’s Investigators say that whiteout weather conditions, from wind and blowing snow, appears to be a likely factor in Friday afternoon’s fatal head-on collision between two Holland Patent School Buses.
It happened around 3:00 p.m. on the Rickmeyer Road, town of Floyd.
Though the investigation remains ongoing, the Sheriff’s Office has determined that two school buses, one driven by Michael J. Page, 57, of Stittville, NY and the other driven by Jean C. Marsden, 58, of Holland Patent, NY, somehow crossed into the oncoming lanes, resulting in a head-on collision.
Tragically, emergency personnel said that Marsden was pronounced deceased on scene. The two students who were aboard her bus during the crash were taken to Wynn Hospital for unspecified, yet non-life threatening injuries.
The other three students on Page’s bus were all evaluated before being released to their parents. In addition, Page was taken to Wynn Hospital for a reported foot injury.
The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, members of the Floyd Fire Department, Stittville Fire Department, AmCare Ambulance, the NYS DOT and the Holland Patent School District.
Both buses were removed by Clinton Collision.
