Although muzzleloader and rifle season are right around the corner for North Country hunters, bow season for Whitetail Deer is under way.
The season kicked-off Tuesday in the Northern Zone. "This is an exciting time of year for hunters who now have an opportunity to head afield and experience the tremendous hunting opportunities here in New York for both big and small game," New York State DEC Commissioner Seggos said.
"In addition, the late summer weather, fall foliage, and extended hunting hours combine to create outstanding conditions for new and experienced hunters who enjoy the sport."
Several other hunting seasons for turkeys, pheasants, and other small game will also open October 1 in the Northern Zone.
Whitetail muzzleloader season kicks-off in the North Country October 15, while rifle season starts October 22.
